The Baoshan Mining Park was granted the qualification of national mining park in May 2010. Later Hunan Baoshan National Mining Park was officially opened in September 2013. After the transformation and upgrading, it brings not only the increasingly better environment, but also a number of tourists.

In conspicuous areas, mining techniques of different ages are on display.

For example, the mining process in the 1980s is exhibited, including drilling, explosive blasting, raking the fallen ore near to the rock loader by electric rake, loading the ore into the mine car by rock loader, and finally transporting the ore to the dressing mill for crushing and flotation.

The earlier time it is traced back to, the more appealing it will be to tourists.

In the Western Han Dynasty, ancient people adopted the principle of thermal expansion and contraction. After heating rocks, they poured cold water on them to make them burst, and then collected ores. Because of the backward science and technology at that time, it highlights the wisdom of the ancient people.

To further impress visitors, such experience projects are set up in the mine as water gushing-out, collapse and journey to the center of earth.

By rocking and shaking, the machine simulates different phenomena to enable visitors to be more deeply impressed by the scene.

In order to clean up illegal mining and improve the ecological environment, the CPC Guiyang County Committee, Guiyang County People’s Government and the Baoshan Mine have covered the mine with “green coat”.

In 2008, the construction of the Baoshan National Mining Park was initiated. Completed and officially opened to the public in 2013, the park successively won such titles as the “Land and Resources Science Popularization Base”, “Hunan Science Popularization Base”, “Hunan Environmental Education Base” and “Hunan Ecological Civilization Education Base”.

“With the wind blowing here, the pungent smell of sulfur dioxide permeated the air and the underground water was polluted so badly before 2007 that people dared not open windows at home.” People living around still remember the surroundings clearly.

According to the data provided by Chenzhou Tourism Bureau, Hunan Baoshan National Mining Park attracted a large number of tourists during the 2013 Chenzhou International Tourism and Culture Festival, helping to generate considerable economic benefits in relevant industries like transportation, catering, communications, exhibition, entertainment and shopping.

After the growth of economic benefits here, the effect of environmental governance is also gradually improving. The mine now boasts lush vegetation and modern museums.
